It is the mission of the Walworth Parks and Recreation Department to provide diverse year-round leisure activities and facilities to our community that promote citizen involvement and a strong sense of community while striving to increase the social, cultural, and physical well-being of our residents. It is our goal to constantly improve our existing programs and parks for the enjoyment of our citizens.
Please be aware that due to repeated acts of vandalism the gates at Sherburne Road Town Park will now be locked at dusk and opened when park staff begins work in the morning. The trails open at dawn even if the gates are still locked – you may park along Lorraine Drive to access them. We apologize for any inconvenience.

What’s New?

It’s certainly been a long and trying winter – but finally the weather looks to be trending in the right direction!  With the warmer weather comes anticipation of the opening for our second season of the Ginegaw Farmers’ Market.  This season we have a number of exciting events, entertainment, and special guests lined up throughout the market season.  Music, magic, and more will all be at the market this year!  We’ll also be introducing the Power of Produce (POP) Club – a nationwide market program for children that encourages healthy eating.  For a complete and updated market calendar please be sure to visit the Ginegaw Farmers’ Market page on the town website.

Summer 2014 - 01

This May marks one year with our new software registration platform – Rec1.  As with any transition there have been a few hiccups along the way, but overall we’ve received very positive feedback from you the community regarding the ease of registration and account access you now experience.  We greatly appreciate your patience and willingness to make this change!  As always if you have any trouble at all when registering for programs please let us know.

Be sure to mark your calendar’s for the Summer Family Movie in the Park – The Lego Movie – on Saturday, July 26th beginning at 8:45pm.  Don’t forget your blankets, lawn chairs, and flashlights!

As you drive through the park this Summer you may notice a new addition. The Walworth Lions Club, Recreation Department, and some talented local high school artists will be completing a mural on the side of the Lions Club.  It will be a welcome addition to the park’s landscape!

We’d also like to take a quick moment to express once again our profound thanks to both Gananda Central and Wayne Central’s administrative office staff for their assistance and constant cooperation and coordination in organizing half day programs for district students. These programs can’t happen without their willingness to take time out of their busy day to assist us with registration collection and all the little details necessary to run an organized and successful program with such large numbers of students!

Stay active this summer.  Thanks for your continued support!
