SUPERVISOR’S
REPORT - March You should all be getting a census questionnaire around the middle of March. If you don’t get one by March 22 please call 866-972-6969 toll free to get counted. You can also get one at the Walworth Town hall. We have become a “Be Counted” site and we will have the forms in all 59 languages. This count is very important to the town and the county. It determines the number of congressmen in the state, it determines the amount of sales tax we get back from the county and it determines the weighted vote within the county. We know that at least 40 households will not get a questionnaire because the Census bureau doesn’t think the address exists. Kristen Kuhles from the Census Bureau will also be at the Walworth Town Hall on Monday March 22nd at 7:00pm to answer any questions you may have about the forms or the census in general. My next “sit with the supervisor” will be March 6th at 9:00am at the “Garden” Apartments on Canandaigua Rd. Everyone is welcome. The Lions Club spaghetti dinner is Saturday March 6th starting at 4:00pm at Freewill School on Canandaigua Rd. It’s a wonderful meal for a wonderful cause so please join them for dinner. It looks like we may start a Facebook page for Walworth Recreation. It will not allow people, other than the Recreation staff, to post things, however It will allow for people to become “fans”. We will be able to post game cancellations, game scores, program updates and more. We will also be able to notify people every time we update the web site. We plan on starting it sometime in March. At the county level, the chairman has established a new ad hoc committee to investigate the possibility of a veteran’s court. This is something that is happening in a neighboring county and others are looking at it too. I will be chairing this committee to determine whether or not it is something we should do. Most of the snowmobilers have been following the dedicated trails this winter. Thank you! There are a few who refuse to co-operate and have caused damage to the sidewalks, driveways and in the hamlet, the light boxes. Unfortunately, repairs need to be made and the town needs to do much it! So, be forewarned, the money to make these repairs will come from your tax dollars. PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY. The snow and ice make it harder to control your vehicle, as you are aware. Drive slower in bad weather and pay attention to the road so you will not become a statistic. Also, please watch for pedestrians who sometimes walk in the road if the sidewalks are not clean, school buses that stop on busy roads to discharge or pick up children and watch for snowplows that will back up and turn around on the roads when necessary. BE SAFE Bob Plant
