Sherburne Road Eagle Scout Projects!

SUPERVISOR’S REPORT - August

This last week the Town received a check from Senator Nozzolio to help us pay for the sidewalks in the hamlets of West Walworth and Walworth.  These needed to be replaced at the same time the county highway department replaced the roads.  The roads are both county projects but the sidewalks are town expenses.  Work on the road in West Walworth is scheduled to be started next year.
The Festival in the Park is Friday August 22nd and Saturday The 23rd.  The Parade is on Friday the 22nd at 7:00pm (I had put in the wrong time last month). Thanks to Dolomite for their generous donation to help cover costs for the Festival. There will also be a 5K race sponsored by the Walworth Lion’s Club for the benefit of the Friends of the Park.  The race will start Saturday the 23rd at 9am at Ginegaw Park.  For more information please contact Katrina Chellis at: kchellis@rochester.rr.com (or) 315.986.2146.  There is also information about the race on the town web site at  townofwalworthny.gov

The Town has a new organization, “The Friends of the Park”.  It is a not for profit group that was established to help raise funds for improvements in the town parks.  One of their projects is to help the Town get an enclosed pavilion for year round use in Ginegaw Park.  It would include handicapped bathrooms and a small kitchen area.  For more information on the group or to become a member you can contact Karel Ambroz at 986-2697.

Many local organizations will have booths at the festival.  The 3 fire departments that serve the town will share a booth taking orders for house number signs. These are highly reflective house numbers to be put by the road, so that at night or in bad weather emergency personnel can locate your house quickly and efficiently.  The fire departments will also be taking orders for the signs throughout the fall at their fund raisers: Lincoln Fire Dept chicken BBQ Sept 13 and Oct 11;   Walworth Fire Dept chicken BBQ Sept 27.   In addition, you can contact any of the fire chiefs,  West Walworth- Peter Marini 524- 7943; Walworth- Gary Germano 986-5941; Lincoln-Tony Digravio 585-729-8635.

We have an Eagle Scout project that is being built right now in the park.  It is a 20’X20’ open pavilion by the upper playground.  When you take your children or grandchildren there you will now be able to stay out of the sun and sit at a picnic table.

Enjoy what is left of summer and I will see you at the Festival!
